It’s Baseball season!

The busiest 8 months of my year are underway, baseball season! It actually got underway last week with The Prattville HS Girls softball Opening Night and now the season for ASU and Troy are underway as I do games for them and then the Biscuits get underway in April. Yes, it is undoubtedly the busiest time of the year for me but I actually love it. This makes 20 seasons of baseball for me and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Oh, by the way, my grandsons will be playing baseball too and I will fit in as much time as possible to go support them!

The Alabama basketball team had a great victory at home vs Texas A&M this past Saturday plus they hit the century mark again by winning 100-75. There are a couple of tough games ahead with Florida coming to Tuscaloosa on Wednesday and then hitting the road to Kentucky on Saturday.

Have a great week! It’s a short one for me as the radio stations are on auto-pilot for the President’s Day Holiday.

Rain anyone?!?!

With all the rain we’ve had over the last few days I had to post on Facebook this morning a funny meme showing Forrest Gump walking through the rain with the caption “Me On My Way To My Car This Morning”. The rainfall totals in the state of Alabama are pretty high right now. Yesterday, I had to go to Publix to pick up a prescription refill and I looked at the field which is beyond our fence in the front yard and there was so much rain that a group of ducks were swimming! It looks like we will have a few dry days this week but the rain returns JUST in time for the weekend. SMH

The Alabama basketball team had a nice road win on Saturday at LSU and this week it’s a light schedule with only 1 game on the schedule and it’s Saturday back at home against Texas A&M. This will be a tough one as the Aggies are playing pretty well right now. I’m glad that the game is in Tuscaloosa at Coleman Coliseum!

The Super Bowl officially ended the football season with the Chiefs beating the 49’ers last night and repeating as champions. I’m sure all the conspiracy theory folks will say that the game was rigged or something like that because of Taylor Swift which I think is ridiculous. There were players on both sides playing their hearts out and injuries were all over the field which I’m sure were not fake. Regardless of what narrative you believe, I truly enjoyed the game and the halftime show was impressive as well.

Have a great week!

Golf?!?!

As most of you know, I am an avid golfer…now, I didn’t say I was a good golfer but I love the game. I found myself watching the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend and now my “itch” for the game is getting worse! I am so ready to get back into a routine with my golf buddies. The weather lately has not been helpful but I’m hoping that soon the weather will clear and we are into beautiful Spring and eventually Summer days that are built for golf. Can’t Wait!!

Another good week for the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team. A good road win against Georgia after being down early and an impressive win at home against Mississippi State. This week is going to be TOUGH as the team travels to Auburn on Wednesday and then to LSU on Saturday. The matchup with Auburn really concerns me. Alabama beat them at home earlier in the year so you know that they are looking for revenge plus that place is tough for anyone to play in yet alone a rival team.

Hope you guys have a good week!

Mother Nature make up your mind!!

Lately it seems that we are below freezing OR it’s raining and then occasionally it does both and that just makes a mess. I am SO ready for mid 70’s to 80’s and not just because of the temperatures but also because my golf game has been non-existent in the last few months. I’m ready to get on to somebody’s golf course and soon!

Alabama basketball had a nice week with wins at home against Auburn and LSU. A double dose of tiger losses. This week it’s a trip to Georgia on Wednesday and back home on Saturday against Mississippi State.

Have a great week!

I’m done with winter!

These cold temperatures have got to go! First off, I just don’t enjoy them but secondly, and more importantly, I haven’t played a round of golf in months! I found myself watching golf yesterday on TV just live vicariously through the golfers on the PGA Tour. Trust me, it wasn’t the same plus they are a lot better than I am…lol.

Alabama basketball had a tough loss to Tennessee over the weekend and now look to Auburn coming to Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday. Should be a good game as Auburn is really tough this year but if Alabama plays with some consistency they have a shot at a win. The atmosphere there is going to electric for sure!

Have a great week!

How about this weather?!?!

As I type this update to my blog, I am sitting in my living room while working from home. Our GM sent out an email on yesterday asking us to be safe and not drive if we don’t have to and honestly I can work from home with no issues. Honestly, it’s kind of bitter sweet as it brings back memories of working from home during the Covid-19 outbreak but I know that this is the best decision and the safest one.

How ’bout them Cowboys???? I have been a fan since I could say the word “football” and there have been plenty of high points and low points over the years. Saturday was the lowest of the lows when the Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers. There is NO disrespect to the Packers as they executed a great game plan and did what they needed to do to win. At this point there are plenty of questions but not a lot of answers just yet. Fire McCarthy? Trade Dak? I’ll be curious to see what happens in the very near future with Jerry Jones and this current version of the team.

Alabama basketball had a GREAT win on the road vs Mississippi State on Saturday and remain undefeated in SEC play. Hopefully, that trend will continue tonight as the Crimson Tide is back at home to welcome Missouri to Coleman Coliseum.

Have a great week!

2024, week #2

The New Year is into week #2 and I wonder how many folks are sticking to their resolutions and how many have already broken it?!?! Personally, I didn’t make an actual resolution but I am continuing with my journey through diabetes and TRYING to stay as healthy as possible with my diet choices and my exercise. My last HgbA1C was a 7.0 which is ok but I would like to see it go below 6.5 if possible. The switch I made to the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitor has been a big help so I’m hoping that trend continues into this year.

With football season over for the Alabama Crimson Tide, my focus has turned to basketball and the team that Nate Oats has put together is pretty good and should contend again for the SEC crown and a possible trip back to the NCAA tournament.

Speaking of basketball, I have been on the road a lot to Troy to do PA for Men’s basketball and soon enough I will be doing some baseball for them as well. Alabama State University also reached out recently so I will doing some PA for their baseball team as well. Busy, busy! And I love it!

Happy New Year!

2023 is now behind us and we have made out way into 2024. I’m sure we can all look back on the year and wish things had been a bit different or better but that’s the beauty of a new year. You don’t have to necessarily look back at the year but you can use it as a motivating factor going into the new year. My hope is that you find all the happiness you deserve in the new year.

So, with the new year holiday today, there is Alabama football on as the Crimson Tide faces Michigan in the 1st game of the College Football Playoff. The second game features Texas and Washington with the winners of both games facing each other on next Monday January 8th for the National Championship. Of course, I will be rooting for the Tide in hopes making it to AND winning another National Championship. Good luck to Coach Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide!

Have a great week and a great start to 024!

Christmas…come and gone

Just like every year, we plan and plan, shop and cook in preparation for Christmas Day and all of a sudden the day has come and gone. Don’t get me wrong, I look forward to the day but then I am glad to see it done too. This year was the same as previous years as we did our annual Christmas brunch with my oldest son and then on to Tallassee for Christmas dinner with my wife’s side of the family.

On a another note, it’s CFP week as the Alabama Crimson Tide football team looks to take on the Michigan Wolverines in a playoff game on New Years Day. We will have radio coverage beginning at 1p. If they win, then it’s on to the National Championship game on Monday January 8th with game coverage TBD.

It’s a a short week for us and hopefully you too so enjoy it!

Back from vacation!

First off, a big thank you to Kelley Stone for filling-in for me last week as I took some time off. No big trips or getaways, just a lot of rest and relaxation plus a little golf, of course. Basically, I had vacation days that DON’T rollover so it was “use them or lose them”. Regardless, it was good to just relax and not have to deal with the daily grind.

We are just days away from Christmas and as some of you, I still have a few gifts to buy mostly for my grandkids. The way my wife and I do it is that she buys for the girls and I buy for the boys. I know what they want because they sent me pictures…lol. So, it should be a simple shopping experience whenever I get around to doing it this week.

Hope you have a great week!
