Iron Bowl/UA basketball/Toy Hill 2022

What a way to start a Monday after the Alabama Crimson Tide football team defeats the Auburn Tigers in the 2022 Iron Bowl. I think most people, myself included, didn’t doubt that Alabama would win but instead the question was if they would cover the 22 point spread which they did, 49-27. So, the Alabama fan base gets bragging rights until next year.

Just when it was exciting to view the Iron Bowl, the Alabama Men’s basketball team went up against the #1 team in the country, The North Carolina Tar Heels, and WON! It took 4 overtimes but in the end, Alabama was victorious 103-101. This years team looks very good. I don’t want to get my hopes up but I feel a good year coming on for Alabama basketball.

It’s almost time for Toy Hill 2022! Starting on Friday, December 2nd at 5p, I will be live on location at Brewbaker Motors until Sunday December 4th at 5p. We invite everyone to stop by at some point during that time and donate to the US Marines Toys for Tots program. It should be another good year!

Have a great week!

Iron Bowl Week!

In the state of Alabama, this is probably the most important week of the year. The state literally divides itself between Auburn and Alabama. As a fan of the Crimson Tide, I am hoping for a win but I am cautious at the odds/spread that was announced (-24.5) I think that is TOO high for this game. Auburn is going to come into Tuscaloosa full of emotion and will play that way but eventually I believe that the talent level at Alabama will overcome the emotion and eventually pull away and win.

This week is also about Thanksgiving and I am thankful for my family and extended family. I hope that you get to spend time with your family this holiday as I will do the same.

Have a great (short) week!

WINTER!!

Well, it looks like winter is officially here…or at least for a couple of days! Mother Nature has a way of sneaking in with the cold weather and then bringing back a heat wave shortly thereafter. We will see how this plays out over the next few weeks. For now though, it is COLD! I woke up this morning to 35 degrees and the heater actually kicked in at the house.

Looking forward to this weekend as my wife and I are finally going to make it to Bryant-Denny Stadium to see an Alabama game as they take on Austin Peay. Yeah, it’s not a HUGE rivalry type game but it is our opportunity to get on campus and enjoy a game. It’s been a few years since we’ve been able to make it to Tuscaloosa.

Have a great week and stay warm!

Marine Corps/Veteran’s Day

This week has got to be one of my favorite weeks of the year. First, the US Marine Corps will celebrate their 247th birthday on November 10th and then we all celebrate Veteran’s Day on November 11th! My family is full of veterans and my son is a Marine Reservist so I take pride in both days. Hopefully, you will honor those days as well and if you do, thank you!

Tough loss this past weekend for the Alabama Crimson Tide but, yes, the sun did rise on Sunday morning! Now it’s on to Oxford to play Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin. Let’s hope for a better result.

Have a great week!
